As I’ve mentioned before, one of the things that keeps me from splurging on new tools is space. Case in point, I’d love to own a plow plane, but I have absolutely no idea where to store the thing so it won’t get dinged constantly.
Maybe I could make a lidded box to keep it safe. Maybe I’ll make a plow plane myself so I don’t care if it gets dinged. Maybe I’ll just suck it up and keep using a compact plunge router.

James I have some extreme space restrictions myself and I’m building a joiners chest as that gives me compact storage for most every handtool I own or will ever “need”, including my plow plane. I currently have the plow in a dedicated box and that is just way more storage space than my work corner (it isn’t a shop) can accommodate.

Denise, I have my double craftsman toolchest which works pretty well. I think I could probably figure out a better storage system for my small clamps (they’re currently stuffed in the bottom and deepest drawer of the top chest) and use that drawer for specialty planes.

I’ve been thinking about your lack of space and the “big” expanse of empty wall behind your bench/table. Could you perhaps build a free-standing french cleat wall? You’d then have plenty of storage options. You’d have to lean over the bench to reach it, but you could put seldom-used tools up there.
